Have a close view of Microsoft Zune
11-11-2006
One user who has had a chance to use Microsoft's upcoming Zune MP3 player "found the device to be a viable attempt at the iPod music player, with some glaring pitfalls," according to an AppleInsider report.
Among the feedback: the interface of the Microsoft Zune MP3 player is "a bit clunky;" the lack of a scroll wheel was "frustrating," because the users' "fingers intuitively wanted to scroll;" battery life "is far less robust than the iPod music player's;" and the case was thicker than the iPod player and made out of "sort of hard rubber (not quite plastic material)."
In addition,AppleInsider noted, "it appears that Microsoft is attempting to swipe a page from Apple's marketing prowess -- on the rear of each Zune, in small inscription on the bottom next to the serial number, is a message: 'Hello from Seattle.'"
Microsoft Zune MP3 player is set to go on sale Nov. 14 with a US$249.99 price tag. With 30GB of storage, it's the same price as the 30GB iPod player. Music sold at the Zune Marketplace will also have comparable pricing as the Apple iTunes Store.

09-27-2006
SanDisk's tiny Sansa flash-based digital audio players have gotten plenty of attention lately, and now it's time to start whoring out the product like nobody's business, beginning with the SanDisk Sansa Base Station. Compatible with the e200 and the c200 digital audio player, the Base Station is, as you might expect, a dock that lets you jack into a home theater system to listen to your no-moving-parts music to you heart's content. While docked, the digital audio player automatically begins charging and users can use a new innovation called a remote control to control what the audio player plays.
The Base Station comes with all the necessary cables needed to integrate it into a home theater, like an RCA audio cable, and a USB 2.0 cable for transferring songs. Look for the Base Station this October for around $69.99. – Nicholas Deleon.

Big Bosch Power Box iPod dock
09-05-2006
What the heck is the deal with this Bosch Power Box iPod dock? Deflecting onlookers from its intended purpose, this iPod dock looks like it could be used to trigger 50s-era nuclear weapons rather than just power and protect a stoopid iPod. But then, we're fed up with iPods anyway, so anything that would vaporize them all would be a welcome respite from having to write about them day in and day out.
Apparently designed for a he-man jobsite, the iPod docking case can not only charge that beloved music player, it's supposed to protect the thing from shock and movement, too. But what? Are you going to be playing soccer with your precious little iPod, kicking it around with reckless abandon? Remember, you paid hundreds of dollars for it.
So if you feel like kicking around that iPod, the CD-player-packing Bosch Power Box is going to cost you $170. Plus, you'll have to drop $40 on the iPod adapter kit. Or hey, just leave your iPod at home and hum all those tunes to yourself at the jobsite. The neighbors will thank you. – Charlie White
